barely did doomsday cease to be

सादगी-हा-ए-तमन्ना या'नी
फिर वो नैरंग-ए-नज़र याद आया

the innocence of my wishes, surprise
again i think of fascinating eyes

उज़्र-ए-वामांदगी ऐ हसरत-ए-दिल
नाला करता था जिगर याद आया

heart's longing, weariness the reason, find
i would have pled but patience came to mind

ज़िंदगी यूँ भी गुज़र ही जाती
क्यूँ तिरा राहगुज़र याद आया

life would in any case pass by and by
your street i now recall, tell me why

क्या ही रिज़वाँ से लड़ाई होगी
घर तिरा ख़ुल्द में गर याद आया

where is the courage now to plead at all

दिल-ए-गुम-गश्ता मगर याद आया

what kind of desolation there this be
home comes to mind the desert when i see

कोई वीरानी सी वीरानी है
दश्त को देख के घर याद आया

what fight with heaven's doorman there will be
whoughts of your house, if there, trouble me

मैं ने मजनूँ पे लड़कपन में 'असद'
संग उठाया था कि सर याद आया
