आईना देखें कि अपने-आप से पर्दा करें

एक दो पल ही रहेगा सब के चेहरों का तिलिस्म
कोई ऐसा हो कि जिस को देर तक देखा करें

ये तो सच है ज़हर लगते हैं हमें बस्ती के लोग
किस तवक़्क़ो पर मगर आबाद ये सहरा करें

tis true that city people just as poison to me seem
on what hope this wilderness then shall i redeem?

सर-फिरे सब जम्अ हों सब के सरों पर हो चराग़
बस चले तो हम भी ऐसा जश्न इक बरपा करें
